"The bell rings - The past meets the future"
exhibition by Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo
и Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

The exhibition was realized after a study conducted on the initiative of the Municipality and with the assistance of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The subject of this study are mainly bells in the region of Veliko Tarnovo, as IMI-BAS assists by providing digital objects from its multimedia fund BellKnow. The reason for choosing the bell is that it has an important place in European civilization and culture. In the past, and even today, on the Old Continent, the bells have announced and continue to announce good and bad events.

The exhibition was created in connection with the celebrations of the 110th anniversary of Bulgaria's Independence in Veliko Tarnovo and the European Days of Cultural Heritage in 2018. For the first time it was exhibited in the historic fortress of Tsarevets within the European initiative "Let their first bell ring" the word "peace."
