Come to Plovdiv to the biggest literary festival in Bulgaria "Plovdiv reads"

We have the honor to invite you to the largest literary festival in Bulgaria "Plovdiv reads", which will be held from 14 to 20 June 2021.

The official opening is on 14 June (Monday), from 20:00 h. at the Ancient Theater, with a concert by the group "Akaga" and the choir "Detska kitka" at the Municipal Children's Complex Plovdiv. Traditionally, the opening event will host the "Orpheus Wreath" awards of the past year for poets, as well as the "Golden Brush" for the best book design.

Before that, on the same day at 17:00 h. in the House Museum "Hristo G. Danov" will be held the traditional presentation of the National Literary Awards "Hristo G. Danov", organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Plovdiv.

Literary meetings with writers, translators, artists, readings and creative meetings, premieres of new books, discussions, exhibitions, concerts, art workshops and recitals will enliven Plovdiv for a week. Premieres of their latest books will have such iconic names for Bulgarian literature as Alexander Shurbanov, Georgi Gospodinov, Zahari Karabashliev, Georgi Borisov, Alek Popov, Hristo Karastoyanov, Aksinia Mihailova. Significant authors such as Emil Stoitsov, Ivan Strandzhev, Yordan Kosturkov, Katerina Hapsali, Demetra Duleva, Krassimir Dimovski, Svetlozar Zhelev, Raina Markova, Stanislava Stanoeva, Bogdan Rusev and many others will present their books. The youngest generation will also take part in this year's festival. The writers Petko Slavov, Mia Serdareva, Deliana Maneva are guests at Plovdiv Reads Festival. The young poets Alexander Gabrovski, Dimitar Ganev, Gabriela Manova and Lilia Yovnova will also perform on the stage of Fluka - Austrian Cultural Pavilion.

International guests of "Plovdiv reads" in 2021 are the Ukrainian writer Ivan Andrusyak, winner of the national award "Lesya Ukrainka", nominated for the award "Hans Christian Andersen" (2020), included in the selection of the best books in the world for children White Ravens with his book "28 days of the Squirrel's life" and the Macedonian writer Sashko Nasev, who will present his book "Meetings with the Devil".

The festival will also include a number of meetings and talks dedicated to the art of translation and the book as an object. There will be many musical and poetic performances, performances, readings. The traditional presentation of the "Reader of the Year from 5 to 105" awards at the Ivan Vazov National Library will take place.

This year the tents of nearly 60 Bulgarian publishing houses, included in the Plovdiv Book Alley, will be located on Central Square.
