Authors from 8 countries arrange works in the 3rd edition of the International Mosaic Forum "Balkan Bridges" in Balabanov House

The third edition of the International Mosaic Forum "Balkan Bridges" begins on Friday, 16 April, on the eve of the International Day for the Protection of Cultural Monuments (18 April), which was chosen as the date for the opening of the Episcopal Basilica of Philippopolis.

This year's "Balkan Bridges III" features 55 authors from 8 countries with 110 mosaics, which will traditionally fill the space of Balabanov's house in the Old Town. This edition is part of the Cultural Calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2021 and is funded under component 3 "Civic Activity".

The engine of the event - the artist Krum Sharankov, master of the mosaic genre in fine arts and curator of the exhibition, together with representatives of Plovdiv Municipality and the hosts of Municipal Institute "Ancient Plovdiv" will symbolically cut the ribbon for the expected forum at 18:00 h. on Friday.

"Association of Bulgarian Mosaicists" trusted a jury consisting of Prof. Iliya Iliev, Prof. Emilia Konstantinova and Assoc. Prof. Elena Kantareva - Decheva, who selected works among the numerous applications for participation in the popular forum. The third edition again supports the fact that Plovdiv is a unique place where mosaic as a cultural and historical artifact and modern mosaic trends can coexist.

The chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Mosaicists and curator of the exhibition Krum Sharankov shared in advance: "We have prepared a feast for the senses, a feast of colors and conceptual concepts through which the audience will compare different mosaic schools and materials!".

The representative exposition of mosaics "Balkan Bridges III" can be seen in the vaulted and deep hall of Balabanov House in the period from 17 to 30 April 2021 (no day off, working hours from 09:00 to 18:00 h.).

Admission is free!
