Plovdiv will host the World Rowing Junior Championship 2021

From 11 to 15 August 2021 Plovdiv will host the World Rowing Junior Championship under 23 years. The letter approving the city's candidacy was received by FISA on May 10th, according to the chairman of the organizing committee, Ivan Popov. He participated in a press conference to present the championship, together with Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov and Deputy Mayor for Sports Georgi Tityukov.

"Plovdiv is ready to welcome the championship. For the last 8 years, this is the eighth rowing championship that the city will host. We are a sports city and we will cope with the organization of this championship, especially since the members of the committee have accumulated experience and are aware of their obligations", said Zdravko Dimitrov at the presentation of the host of Plovdiv at the competition.

The organizers expect more than 600 competitors from 18 countries. "The big news is that all guests will be able to use the base only of accredited hotels that comply with anti-epidemic measures", said Ivan Popov. According to him, it is possible to increase the number of participants, as there is another month to apply, and the World Championship is the first major competition for this age in the last 2 years.
