Authentic swords and maces from Antiquity and the Middle Ages show the festival "Plovdiv - ancient and eternal"

The forum will take place from 17 to 19 September in Lauta Park, and the official opening is at the Roman Stadium

Original swords, spears, maces and arrows from Antiquity and the Middle Ages will be displayed by the Philippopolis Association during the festival "Plovdiv - ancient and eternal: history, ethnology, culture and art". The valuable artifacts will be released from the museum for the first time for public demonstrations. This is possible with the help of the owners of the Vatevi collection, which has more maces than the British Museum.

The festival "Plovdiv - ancient and eternal" will be held from 17 to 19 September under the hills for the third consecutive year. The opening is on the 17th at 7 pm with a special program at the Roman Stadium. It includes an ancient ritual to invoke the favor of the gods, the dance performance "Early Christian Baptism", battles between gladiators, medieval music performed by the groups "Freya" and "Spirital Seasons". Guests will also see a knight fight Pro fight triathlon - a duel under international rules WMCF Kinights, organized by Peter Vladov champion of tournaments at home and abroad.

Cosmetic company Rosaimpex will choose its Queen of Roses as the best women's costume during the opening.

The event will be held under intensified measures - people will be allowed in the stands of the Roman Stadium until the seats allowed by the health authorities are filled.

"Plovdiv - ancient and eternal" continues on Saturday and Sunday, and the traditional place for it is Lauta Park. During the two days in the different festival zones over 200 participants will recreate the millennial history of one of the oldest living cities in the world - Pulpudeva / Filipopol / Trimontium / Puldin / Filibe / Plovdiv.

There will be demonstrations of crafts, fighting techniques, authentic clothing and weapons, preparation of medieval dishes and drinks, horseback riding. Ancient music will also be played.

Due to the observance of the order of the Ministry of Health, the entrance to the festival area will be with controlled access. A disinfection device will be placed at the entrance, people inside will be provided with seats at a distance of 1.5 m. Visitors will leave the festival area from another exit so that there are no crowds.

The festival "Plovdiv - ancient and eternal: history, ethnology, culture and art" is part of the Cultural Calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv. The organizers are the non-profit association "Together for personal development", the association for historical reconstructions "Philippopolis" and the association for restoration and preservation of the Bulgarian traditions "Avitohol".
