Made at the Academy Festival
Made at the Academy presents at a spectacular arts festival of AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev” Plovdiv
Four impressive art events, united in a festival format Made at the Academy, for the first time fully represent the creative potential of the Plovdiv Academy: classical music, jazz, dance, fine arts and folklore, presented on different stages and locations by students and faculty, leading names in Bulgarian contemporary art. Since 2021, Made At the Academy has become part of the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv as a polyphonic multi-genre product of artists from all faculties and specialties of AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev” Plovdiv - one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the arts in Bulgaria.
Made at the Academy starts at the Roman Stadium on June 8 at 6 pm with the documentary exhibition "The Architectural Wealth of the Academy", by Prof. Dr. Galina Lardeva and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Gyoshev, where mobile constructions present the history of the buildings in which the specialties of the academy are housed today - the famous Yellow School; The central building, located next to the Ancient Theater, the work of one of the first women architects in Bulgaria - arch. Vinarova; the beautiful Slaveykov school, where Petko R. Slaveykov taught; the artistic Green School; the building on Saborna Street, the work of arch. Josef Schnitter etc. The exhibition will last until the end of June.
Two hours later, at 8 pm, also at the Roman Stadium, the Academic Opera Theater with artistic director Assoc. Prof. Plamen Parvanov raises the curtains for the premiere in front of the Plovdiv audience of Jacques Offenbach's operetta "Ba-ta-clan" with conductor Alia Hanse, director Ivaylo Mihailov, set designer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitar Vodenicharov, costumes State Opera - Stara Zagora.
The next day - June 9, from 6.00 pm, the Temporary Exhibitions Halls of the City Gallery of Fine Arts at 15 Knyaz Alexander I Battenberg Street open their doors for the representative Annual Exhibition of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Academy, which presents all specialties: Graphic Design and Photography, Pedagogy of Fine Arts Education, Scenography, Photography, Clothing Design, Wall Painting, Painting, Graphics, Sculpture and others. As every year, the awarded students will be announced in the annual student competition.
The same evening at 8.30 pm the Academy gathers Plovdiv residents and guests of the city at the Ancient Theater for the culmination of the festival - the Representative Concert "The Academy invites Plovdiv" with the participation of the Student Choir, Ensemble of Modern Dance Techniques, Academic Folk Choir, Academic Folklore Ensemble, Academies orchestra, Gaudeamus Academic Mixed Choir, Student Pop and Jazz Formation at AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev", Intro Quartet and many other performers.
As the most important educational cultural institution in Plovdiv AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev” has the ambition to turn the Made at the Academy festival into an annual and constantly renewed art forum, where the audience will witness the success of the Academy in training future artists and at the same time shape their qualities in a natural stage public environment. In the person of the project organizers Prof. Dr. Toni Shekerdzhieva-Novak and Prof. Dr. Galina Lardeva, the team of the Academy expects Made at the Academy to take its place among the most important events in the cultural life of Plovdiv.
The Made at the Academy project is implemented with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv and in partnership with the Municipal Institute "Ancient Plovdiv".
