"MASTERS OF THE CARICATURE" PLOVDIV '2021

Welcome to the opening of the eleventh edition of the International Biennial "Masters of Cartoon" on the theme "The Museum" on October 1 at 18:00 h. in REM - Plovdiv. Once again we have united the creators of this interesting art from all over the world. It is more than curious for us to see how the temple of the muses - the museum can be "characterized" with a pencil or ink, as well as to understand that the given topic really removes barriers between people, shortens distances, breaks stereotypes.

In different eras, museums are custodians of knowledge and traditions, of tangible and intangible treasures and are a preferred destination for cultural tourism. We are glad that all participants have "entered" the museum to show it to us "from the inside". They take us back in time, reveal to us the public's vision of this institution, and all this presented in a universal language, understandable to all connoisseurs of arts and culture. The topic is especially relevant for us, as we can compare "where we are and how we want to be seen", and there are hardly more suitable interlocutors than the masters of the critical pen.

This year's biennial brought together 260 cartoons by 115 authors. They represent 37 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. According to the regulations, the jury nominated 20 artists, five of them were awarded the title of "Master of Caricature", and the rest were awarded a diploma.
